HAVENT POSTED ANYTHING ABOUT ZAYN SINCE IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED. I SAW IT WHEN I JUST WOKE UP THIS MORNING, I SAW A VINE THAT HARRYS CRYING. I WAS CURIOUS. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT ZAYN HAS FINALLY LEFT. MY WORLD FELL APART. EVERY PART OF ME THAT THEY MADE. BUT WHAT NOW? THERES A SPACE IN MY HEART THAT ONLY ZAYN CAN FILL. IM HEART BROKEN. I CRIED A FEW TIMES TODAY, BUT I HID IT. I DONT WANT ANYONE TO TELL ME THAT IM OVER REACTING OVER ZAYN. BUT THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE, HOW IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE LEAVING WHEN THEY MAKE YOU HAPPY ALL OF THE TIME, WHEN IM SAD, STRESSED, INSECURE. I LOVE ZAYN, EVERY PART OF HIM. HIS ANGELIC VOICE, ESPECIALLY HIS HIGH NOTES, HIS ARMS, TATTOOS, HAIR, EYES. AND OF COURSE, HIS SMILE. WE WILL NOT SEE HIM ALL THE TIME NOW BC HE IS LIVING A PRIVATE LIFE. BUT I WONT SURVIVE A DAY WITHOUT SEEING A PICTURE OF ZAYN SMILING. I LOVE THIS PICTURE OF HIM. EVERYTHING WAS BETTER BACK THEN. HOPE WE COULD DO SOMETHING THAT COULD SAVE HIM, BUT WE DIDNT. AHHH BUT IM PROUD OF ZAYN FOR FIGHTING FOR HIS RIGHT TO LEAVE AND OF COURSE IM PROUD OF THE OTHER BOYS. THEY WILL STILL CONTINUE BC THEY LOVE THE FAME. THEY STAY BC THEY LOVE US, THEY ARE DOING THIS FOR US. SO DONT WORRY IF ZAYN LEFT, WE STILL HAVE OUR FOUR BOYS AROUND. AND NOW, WE SHOULD LEARN TO LOVE AND SUPPORT THEM NO MATTER WHAT. ZAYNS DEPARTURE IS A LESSON TO US ALL. AND ALSO I WANT TO THANK THE OTHER FANDOMS, THEY ARE HERE IN THIS MOST HEART BREAKING TIME. THANK YOU. FOREVER 5/5. FOREVER ONE DIRECTION. LOVE YOU @fakeliampayne @harrystyles @louist91 @niallofficial and @niazkilam ????????????❤❤❤❤

Spanish photographer Chico Sanchez (@chicosanchez) walks the streets of Mexico as an observer. “I like images with a meaning,” he says. “Not only beautiful pictures, but something that conveys a message.” Chico says some of his photos are artistic, but others are just informative. “That’s what entertains me, capturing things without judgment,” he says.
After spending seven years shooting in Venezuela, Chico moved to Mexico, where he’s been focused on photographing everyday life. “Mexico is magic,” he says. “There’s an impressive diversity, an impressive cultural richness. In Mexico, you open your window anywhere and immediately can take a picture.” Currently photographing on assignment in Spain, Chico particularly likes shooting with his phone as opposed to a heavy camera. “I travel with it and I’m capturing everything I see,” he says. “It’s like writing an encyclopedia.” Photo by @chicosanchezby Instagram via Scontent.cdninstagram 3/26/2015 1:34:09 PM -

“I have about 30 to 60 seconds of time to bend a strip of wood into the desired shape before it cools and becomes unbendable,” says furniture designer and builder Matthias Pliessnig (@matthiaspliessnig), who lives in Brooklyn, New York. “It’s a hectic, yet focused, series of movements.” Matthias was experiencing creative malaise after years of studying and practicing the rigid rules of woodwork. It was a chance opportunity to fabricate a boat that sparked Matthias’ desire to rebel. “In order to build this boat, I needed to teach myself how to steam bend wood. I was also taking a course on 3-D modeling, and these ingredients came together like an adrenaline shot.” The synthesis of digital and analog has become central to Matthias’ process, where each piece is designed for a specific space and can take more than 1,000 hours from concept to creation. While each work may be unique, Matthias says it also becomes a chapter in a larger story: “It’s an evolved version of the previous design.” Photo by @matthiaspliessnig

For California native Dana Roth (@dana_arr), the experience of living and working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal, West Africa, has been nothing short of transformative. “Going into this, I really didn’t have an idea of what I was going to do in the future,” says Dana. “While I hoped that I’d be on a journey of self-discovery, up until recently I thought maybe that was a silly idea. But as I get further into my time here, I realize that I’ve changed a lot, and I’ve changed my mind about what I want to do in the future.” After spending a year and a half in a country that’s captured her heart, Dana is considering a career overseas — working for an aid organization, or, perhaps, in the Foreign Service.
To help cement long-term memories of her time in Senegal, Dana has been taking intimate photos of the people and her surroundings. But her Instagram feed is specifically tailored for one specific viewer. “Nearly everything I post is for my mom,” says Dana. “I take photos of people and things that she would be interested in.” Photo by @dana_arrby Instagram via Scontent.cdninstagram 3/27/2015 1:16:34 PM -
Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPlisten
What does a sound look like? The goal this weekend is to capture creative videos or photos showing a visual interpretation of a sound. Some tips to get you started:
You can find sound almost everywhere. It can come from things close to us, like teapots or people laughing, but also from objects in our recent past, like phone dials, typewriters or tape recorders. When people see your photo, you want them to immediately hear a sound in their minds. Let a unique noise around you draw your attention, then frame your shot to show the action and best convey the sound. For video, avoid music in favor of the ambient sounds in everyday life. From the roar of a train leaving the station to the strike of a match, seek to capture footage where sound and motion come together to bring a moment to life.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPlisten hashtag only to photos and videos taken this weekend and only submit your own photographs and videos to the project. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged image or video taken this weekend is eligible to be featured Monday morning.

It all started with a dream to become a trapeze artist. “Well, that didn’t go well. Every time I would come out, people would laugh and I would never be able to get on the trapeze,” says Gaby Munoz (@chulatheclown), who lives in Mexico City. “At first, it was frustrating, but then I understood the great feeling I had by making others laugh. It was contagious. My teachers told me that if I was a clown I could do whatever I wanted.” Gaby feels she has now found her true calling as a professional clown. To her, clowns are actually very much like trapeze artists: “They will throw themselves to the abyss without wings, hoping to build them on the way down! They’ll tell you about whom you are, exploring the depth of human emotions. They create an invisible mirror where one can look at the clown and see their own reflection.” Gaby’s profession is no surprise to her family. As a kid, she recalls, “I had my own interior universe of fantasy. I remember playing with mud, pretending to make little cakes and trying to sell them to kids in school, as well as inside trash cans, pretending they were supermarkets.” Her parents did have some words of wisdom as she embarked on her professional path, encouraging her to be what they deemed “a serious clown.” Gaby took her parents’ advice to heart and is now involved with social clowning, giving workshops all over the world, from refugee camps in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan to theater schools and indigenous communities in Mexico, Colombia, Sweden, the US, Brazil, Tbilisi, India, the Philippines and Indonesia.

When Temi Coker (@temi.coker) was 11 years old, he left his home in Lagos, Nigeria, for Arlington, Texas. Then, a few years ago during college, Temi developed a passion for photography and began searching for a way to bring his culture and art together.
Last December, opportunity struck. His grandmother was about to turn 70, and the family in Nigeria had some portraits commissioned to commemorate the moment. But when the photos didn’t meet Temi’s expectations, he made up his mind: He would return to Nigeria and take them himself.
Back in Nigeria, Temi began to see Lagos differently. He was struck by the beauty he saw not only in the surroundings, but also in the people. From “suya” sellers to police officers directing traffic and even the fishermen cleaning out their canoes in the morning, Temi found inspiration in the working world of Lagos that he’d never noticed as a child. “I just wanted to show people what it’s like to actually go to a place where you were born, now with a new vision, and capture the essence of that,” he says. “Not to make the story about me, but about Nigeria and how beautiful it actually is.” With a renewed sense of confidence as a photographer, Temi returned to Texas where he’s begun to take on professional work and develop many personal projects, including multiple-exposure manipulations and a storytelling series that shows the Nigerian traditions alive in the US.

Colombian graphic designer Daniel Aristizábal (@darias88) describes his art as a “retro, colorful, geometric bonanza.” “I like things that seem out of place, things that don’t belong together,” he says. “I’ve been obsessed with images since I was a little kid. I always had weird sceneries and colors mixed in my mind.” Growing up in Medellín, Daniel was influenced by the architecture and fashion around him. He later studied motion graphic design in Barcelona, where he became interested in cubism, dadaism and futurism. “I think the term ‘pop surrealism’ works well for me,” he says. “My work is full of simplicity and organic shapes. It is nostalgic in its essence.” Photo by @darias88

Canadian stay-at-home mom turned artist Sarah Henrich (@madewithluvca) has developed a keen interest in connecting kid-friendly art with Judaism. It all started when Sarah realized that she forgot to pack a menorah for Hanukkah while living abroad in Austria with her husband and two young daughters. “I went to the local craft store looking for something that would work in some way and saw Fimo clay,” she says. “I played with Fimo when I was a child and knew I could work with that. There was a beautiful selection of colors, so I bought lots of clay and got to work on a menorah.” After first creating a princess-themed menorah for her oldest daughter, Sarah got to work on a mezuzah case, a decorative holder for parchment that is inscribed with verses from the Torah. “I sent a picture to my mother of the mezuzah case and she of course posted it to Facebook,” says Sarah. “And the rest is history.” Sarah makes each of her custom mezuzah cases by hand and enjoys seeing people’s reactions to these unique works of art. But for Passover, Sarah looks forward to her mother’s creations: “I love my mother’s matzo bagels. When I think of Passover, I think of the bagels.” Photo by @madewithluvca

Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPcandid
The goal this weekend is to capture creative photos of people in candid moments. Some tips to get you started:
Take your camera everywhere and never stop shooting. Whether among friends or a crowd of strangers, the best candid shots are ones where you feel as if the camera was never there. As you shoot, try to blend in and keep your camera out of the way. Make sure the flash is off, and try shooting from the hip. Find a space with a background that interests you, frame your composition then wait for an unusual moment to pass through to complete the shot. Finally, respect your local laws and the people you're photographing. Only shoot in public spaces and be kind if someone notices you and asks not to be photographed.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPcandid hashtag only to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any tagged image taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured Monday morning.

“An aspect that I find interesting in working with letters, is that the target audience is extremely wide,” says Cyril Vouilloz (@rylsee), a Swiss artist based in Berlin. “It can touch a variety of people and all for different reasons.” On the lookout for new ideas, Cyril always keeps his eyes and ears open and a sketchbook handy, because for him, inspiration can be found anywhere and everywhere: “From an old handwritten misworded note pinned on a door, bathroom poetry, to an Instagram profile tag line.” In his ongoing project “sketchbook2point0,” Cyril creates optical illusions, playfully challenging the viewer to question the veracity of the images they are exposed to every day. “In the era we live in, it’s sometimes difficult to know what is real and what isn’t,” he says. Admittedly being dragged to goofy punch lines, humor plays a big role in Cyril’s work. “I always feel rewarded when I see people laughing when looking at my artworks. I love the idea of creating something that might make someone’s day somewhere in the world!” Photo by @rylsee
